Hi Abbie! Quick question for you regarding eating breakfast even when you don't feel hungry. Without getting too "rules"-y, is there a timeframe after waking up I should be targeting for eating breakfast? I tend to want to get up, out the door, and to work before sitting down to eat. But if my body needs nourishment I don't want to wait too long to eat. Since I'm not hungry at all, I'm not sure what to do :)
Whitney, I love this question -- and specifically the compassion underneath it. It's so wise of you to mention not wanting to make it a rule. I couldn't agree more! I often talk about breakfast as part of this larger, gentle scaffolding to support our day (kind of like how we know we need sleep, and we tend to try to go to bed and wake up roughly similar times to support ourselves). That being said, there is no "right" approach. I've found that, for the majority of folks, trying to have breakfast within an hour of waking up is a really good place to start, especially in rebuilding the hunger cues ❤️ Does that feel doable for you? And do you have some foods that sound appealing in the morning?
Hey Abbie! Thanks for this guidance! It will definitely be a bit of a struggle to eat that early but this is something I want to be better about! I think I need to brainstorm some more easy savory breakfasts to grab and go. I know that if it takes any amount of work or is sweet, I'm not going to want it. Thanks again for all you do!
Absolutely agree with this! Quick and easy options are a must in the morning 🫶🏼 If it helps, I love having frozen breakfast burritos on hand for that, or just having a bagel with cream cheese 🥯🌯
